    How to Remove and Refit the ABS Pump and Motor Assembly on Toyota Echo?
    A:
    The ABS unit is on the right hand side of the car at the back of the engine compartment, the windscreen scuttle may be removed for better access. Starting with, remove the wiring multi-plug from the ABS unit. To avoid spilling brake fluid, loosen and remove the six brake pipe unions that are provided on the top and side of the unit and note the position of every union so that it can be refitted in the correct position, separate brake pipes using an appropriate brake spanner so that their nuts and washers are not rounded off as a result of being overtightly tightened. Then, undo the mounting bracket which is located at the inner guard and after that, you can take hydraulic unit and its mounting bracket from the engine compartment. If required, the hydraulic unit can be disconnected from the mount bracket by pulling off the two nuts fixing it on. During refitting follow the above removal process with the multi-plug properly connected, the brake pipe unions tight also to the specified torque and the hydraulic system bled after fitting.
