  A: First of all, start by removing the center console to access the automatic transmission shift levers. Unscrew the front nut and detach the shift cable end fitting. Remove the retaining plate, shift lock cable end fitting, wiring plugs, and floor bolts to take out the assembly. To remove the shift cable, jack up the car and remove the bolts securing the cable's floor plate/grommet and bracket. Draw the cable through from inside the car, disconnecting any additional brackets or clips. In the engine compartment, detach the shift cable from the transmission lever. Remove the cable carefully to avoid damage.

  A: Disconnect the two cables from the levers and remove the retaining plates. Remove the four bolts securing the unit and lift it out. Disconnect the cables from the levers, detach their collars, and jack up the car. Underneath, remove the bolts securing the cables' floor plate. Draw the cables through from inside the car. In the engine compartment, remove the clips holding the cables to the transmission bracket. Unhook the cable end fittings from the shift/select mechanism. The shift cables can now be removed. To refit, reverse the process and check all gears before driving.
