To install remove all the old gasket material and carbon deposits using a scraper from the face of the manifold and cylinder head. In case there was a gasket leak, then it is advisable that the manifold is examined for warpage and if found, it should be resurfaced. Place a new gasket over the cylinder head studs so as the mark are on the outside, put the manifold and screw the mounting nuts on. Gradually, and with equal increments, turn the nuts from the center out to the recommended torque.
