The axleshafts can be withdrawn from the housing with the
Differential retained in the housing this is necessary when changing the bearings and oil seals or when pulling off the differential carrier from the rear axle housing. First, use a hydraulic jack to lifted the back of the car off the ground and supporting it with jackstands while chocking the tires of the front section of the vehicle. Then, you should withdraw the rear wheels, unlock the parking brake, and then detach the brake drums. Pump out the differential oil using an oil drain pan and after pumping the oil to the required amount, screw the drain plug back into place. Remove the rear differential cover; next, take out the pinion shaft pin, pinion shaft, and the pinion shaft spacer spinning the differential to have better access. Found that if an assistant applies inward pressure on the outer flanged end of the axleshaft, while the other rotates the vehicle to align the groove, you pull out on the axleshaft lock clip, and pull the axleshaft straight out. Check the condition of axleshaft bearing and seal, if the bearing is to be replaced, use slide hammer with internal puller jaw to extract it. New oil seal should always be lubricated with multi purpose grease on the inner lip before refitting of the axleshaft. Last but not the least, verify the torques and replace all the components in the reverse order, replace the differential cover now fill the rear axle.
