To perform a general check on the brake cables, the first step is to take off the front and rear fuel protectors together with the engine undercover. Lift the car upto the normal Height and then place it on two jackstands. Pull the clip off the clevis pin to disconnect the cables and the parking brake cranks on the rear calipers and remove the pin as well. Take off the bracket clip and at the same time disconnect the cables from the caliper brackets. Subsequently, take off the cable bracket bolts on both the sides of the car to release the cables and then ease the cables through the back cable channels. Next, the bolts are to be unscrewed from the front cable guide while following this by moving the grommet onward out of the guide bracket. When pulled out from the equalizer, it is necessary to have some slack and put the cable as parallel as possible to the slot on the top side of the equalizer and push it up and out. Locate and unlock the middle cable guide, untwist the cable and pull it out. For the lever to equalizer connection, you have to twist the clevis pin counter clockwise to loosen it from the equalizer bell crank, you also have to unbolt the cable bracket and then pull the clip of the clevis pin in with a needle nose pliers. Remove the console trim panel and the left side console panel, then remove the screw of the upper bracket for the cable and push the cable off the lever assembly. To install the cables, turn the operations in a reverse fashion to that which was done during the removal process, and apply a thin layer of grease at the interface between the cable and equalizer.
