Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on jackstands, then remove the nut to disconnect the sway bar link from the sway bar. For 1986 and 1987 models, if the ball joint stud turns with the nut, use a wrench to hold the stud while removing the nut. Next, remove the nut to separate the link from the front strut assembly. After that, take out the bolts from the two sway bar brackets to free the brackets and sway bar cushions. Carefully inspect the sway bar link by rotating the ball joints in all directions; if the movement is not smooth and free, replace the sway bar link. Finally, installation follows the reverse order of removal, ensuring all connections are tightened to the specified torque.
