This involves raising the vehicle, loosening the nut that attaches the shift cable to the manual lever, and pushing the lever forward until it stops. Then, push the lever back two clicks to the Neutral position and tighten the nut while an assistant holds the shift lever in the Neutral position. The Neutral Safety Switch should also be adjusted. To replace the shift cable, remove the upper and lower steering column covers and the left lower finish panel. Detach the upper end of the shift cable from the steering column and remove the retainer clip to disengage the cable from the cable bracket. Raise the vehicle, remove the nut attaching the shift cable to the manual lever, and disconnect the shift cable. Remove any cable retaining clamps or clips and pull the cable through the firewall. Installation is the reverse of removal, and the shift cable should be adjusted following the previous steps.
