- A:When cleaning the throttle position sensor (TP), idle air control (IAC) valve, or throttle control motor, do not use solvent as these models are equipped with fully electronic throttle bodies and have no accelerator cable. To begin the removal process, remove the engine cover. For 1GR-FE (2010 and earlier) and 2UZ-FE engines, remove the throttle body cover and clamp off the coolant hoses. Then, remove the air filter housing and windshield wiper motor linkage and cowl panel for 1GR-FE engines. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the throttle body. For 1GR-FE (2011 and later), 1UR-FE, 3UR-FE, and 3UR-FBE engines, clamp off the coolant hoses and remove the air intake duct. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the throttle body. For all models, loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the water bypass hoses. Remove the throttle body mounting bolts and the throttle body itself.
