Q:
What should you do if a replacement of the throttle valve cable is necessary for 1996 Toyota Tacoma 2 Wheel Drive? Posted by Customer
A:
Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle linkage and disengage the TV cable from the cable clamps in the engine compartment. Remove the bolt attaching the TV cable clamp to the torque converter housing and the oil pan. On A340E/A340F models, remove the shift solenoid valves from the valve body and the oil pipes. On A43D models, remove the two oil pipes by prying them out with a screwdriver and remove the five oil strainer bolts. On A340E models, pry up on both ends of the two oil pipes with a screwdriver and pull them straight out. On A340F models, remove the single oil pipe in the same manner. Remove the oil strainer if equipped, and then remove the valve body by removing the specified bolts. Lower the valve body and disengage the TV cable from the throttle cam. On A43O models, push the TV cable out of the transmission case with a 10mm socket, while on A340E/A340F models, remove the cable hold-down bolt and pull out the old TV cable. Insert the new cable through the hole in the case and secure it with the cable hold-down bolt on A340E/A340F models. Connect the new TV cable to the cam and ensure that the groove of the manual valve is aligned with the pin of the lever before installing the valve body. If the throttle cable being installed is new, stake the cable stopper between 0.8 and 1.5 mm from the end of the cable sheath. The remaining installation steps are the reverse of removal. Finally, fill the transmission with new ATF and check the fluid level.

Q:
How can you check and adjust the throttle valve cable on the 1993 Toyota T100? Posted by Customer
A:
Start by ensuring that the accelerator pedal is fully released and the throttle valve is fully closed. Then, verify that the cable itself, not the cable sheath, is taut. Measure the distance between the cable sheath and the stopper on the TV cable and compare it to the specified dimension. If the cable is out of adjustment, use the adjustment nuts at the bracket to adjust it.

Q:
How to check and adjust the throttle valve cable on Toyota 4Runner,Toyota T100 and Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
A:
For 2003 and later model 3.4L V6 vehicles, it is important to note that they do not have a throttle valve cable. Instead, downshifts are controlled by an internal solenoid. To check and adjust the throttle valve cable, start by ensuring that the accelerator pedal is fully released and the throttle valve is fully closed. Then, verify that the cable itself, not the cable sheath, is taut. Measure the distance between the cable sheath and the stopper on the TV cable and compare it to the specified dimension. If the cable is out of adjustment, use the adjustment nuts at the bracket to adjust it. If a replacement is necessary, disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle linkage and disengage the TV cable from the cable clamps in the engine compartment. Don't forget to check and adjust the TV cable if necessary.
