Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the drivebelt. With the parking brake applied and the shifter in Park (automatic) or in gear (manual), loosen the lug nuts from the right front wheel, then raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the right front wheel and the right splash shield from the wheelwell. Remove the bolt from the front of the crankshaft, using a breaker bar if necessary, as the bolt is very tight; a puller base and several spacers can be mounted to the center hub of the pulley to keep the crankshaft from turning while loosening the pulley retaining bolt. Using a puller that bolts to the crankshaft pulley hub, remove the crankshaft pulley from the crankshaft, ensuring to use the proper adapter on the end of the puller screw to prevent damaging the crankshaft threads. Depending on the type of puller, it may be necessary to support the engine from above, remove the right side engine mount, and lower the engine to gain sufficient clearance for the puller. To install the crankshaft pulley, slide it onto the crankshaft as far as it will go, then use a vibration damper installation tool to press the pulley onto the crankshaft, ensuring the slot in the hub is aligned with the Woodruff key in the crankshaft. The crankshaft bolt can also be used to press the crankshaft pulley into position. Tighten the crankshaft bolt to the specified torque, and the remaining installation steps are the reverse of removal.

To install the crankshaft pulley, slide it onto the crankshaft as far as it will go, then use a vibration damper installation tool to press the pulley onto the crankshaft, ensuring the slot in the hub is aligned with the Woodruff key at the end of the crankshaft, and the crankshaft bolt can also be used to press the pulley into position. Tighten the crankshaft bolt to the specified torque, and complete the remaining installation steps in reverse order of removal.
