    How to remove and install the rear Crankshaft Seal on a Toyota Matrix? Posted by Cu N.

    First of all, you have to uninstall the transaxle, then in turn you have to unplug the flywheel/drive plate. Prise out the Crankshaft Seal off the rear of the engine with a screwdriver making sure not to chip or cut any corner of the crankshaft or any part of the seal bore. It is noteworthy how deeply the old seal is withdrawn from the bore before installing the new one to be as deep as the former. Begin by wiping through the seal bore in the block with a shop towel in order to free it from any oil and dirt. The outer diameter has to be lubricated and for introducing the new seal to the crankshaft end, a seal instalment tool has to be used to drive the seal right into the seal bore and ensured that the seal sits neatly on the seal retainer. Lastly, the flywheel/drive plate is to be fitted followed by the transaxle.
