Before you take off the wheel, loosen the nuts holding the wheels to the vehicle, lift it upwards, then use jackstands to hold up the car properly. Use the prybar or screwdriver to keep the axle shaft in place while taking off the CV joint-to-axleshaft flange nuts, and quickly loosen the heavy nuts on the flange with extra safety. Unscrew the freewheel hub, remove the axle shaft snap-ring and spacer to detach the axle shaft assembly from the steering knuckle. Grab the inner CV joint from the axle shaft's flange studs, let it drop down, and take the axle shaft assembly out from the steering knuckle. To replace the CV joints, you follow the opposite steps required during removal - tight all nuts holding the joint to the axle shaft, and be sure to correctly attach the flange bolts and nuts.

The axle comes bear. The bearings need to be pressed on.
