To remove the thermostat, disconnect the small rubber hose from the air bleeder valve and remove the housing bolts. Remove both bolts and separate the water inlet housing halves. Split the water inlet housing halves apart, exposing the thermostat. Remove the thermostat. If necessary, pry it loose with a small screwdriver. Be sure to install a new O-ring on the new thermostat. Be sure to install a new 0-ring seal onto the new thermostat. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The air bleed valve position should be noted, and a new gasket should be fitted over the thermostat. The new thermostat should be installed correctly, and the cover and bolts should be reattached. The hose should be securely reconnected, and the cooling system should be refilled. Finally, the engine should be started and checked for leaks and proper thermostat operation.
