The photos below show the general headlight housing applicable to the 2005 models and below, while the case used in the 2006 above models is slightly different but resembles the one illustrated. Firstly, starting with the 2005 the models and before, the front bumper cover trim panel has to be removed, by using the screwdriver to get all the six retaining tabs out of their respective slots while gently releasing the claws from the locator pins. For the model of 2006 and the subsequent years, one must first unscrew the front bumper and then take off the upper seal that is part of the radiator support assembly. Next, pull the electrical connectors away from the headlight bulbs by squeezing on a release tab and pulling them from the sockets, and unscrew the parking / sidemarker light bulb socket, turning it counterclockwise. Next, unbolt the front bumper cover filler strip, if one has screws for model years before 2005 and a push pin for for model years after 2005. Then the three upper bolts on the headlight housing needs to be taken out and then the front wheel lug nuts need to be loosened along with the jacking up of the vehicle using jackstands and finally the front wheel along with the inner fender splash shield needs to be detached. Move to the removal of the lower headlight housing mounting bolt and then pulling the headlight housing. It is the process of uninstalling the assembly; after that, look into the headlight housing adjustment and make the necessary fixes.

The headlights have the specific legal requirements, the main being aiming towards the front in a manner, which does not blind other users on the road and ensuring that the road is well illuminated. The aim of the headlights must be checked approximately once a year or when the headlight has been replaced or front-end body work has been carried out. The up-and-down adjustment is achieved through the vertical adjustment nut/screw situated on top of the base of the headlight housing and only accessible with a long- Philips type screwdriver while the left-and-right adjustment is done by means of a small horizontal adjuster screw which is locked in place by a small pin/retainer besides it and should ordinarily not be touched as it is meant for repositioning the housing only. In order to align the headlights, park the car at 25 feet away from a blank wall, and use the masking tape to make outlines of vertical directives on middle of the car, as well as on both headlights besides the horizontal line of the tapes' cross section. The vehicle settings must be ideal, it has to be with a half tank of fuel and it must be light. To position it for low beam lighting, move the high intensity zone two inches below the horizontal line or below the bulb so that it is two inches to the side of oncoming traffic and then turn the top screw to this position. When the high beams are on, the high-intensity area should lie slightly beneath the line formed by the low beams in mind that the low beams are more important for safety. Perhaps, it is best to bring the vehicle to a professional for alignment of the headlights at the soonest time possible. Lastly, there are front fog light housings that could be adjusted from under the car front; however, adjustment is rarely done unless it is replacement.
