This procedure is applied to both the front and the rear wheel studs. It is always recommended to start with the removal of the wheel lug nuts pending with the removal of the wheel, lifting the car, and placing it on jackstands. Next removed the brake disc or drum from the vehicle as per the model of the car and the make of the brakes. Thread a lug nut half way onto the stud that is going to be replaced and use a press tool to force the stud out of the hub flange. Push the new stud through the hole in the hub flange from the back side down; put several flat washers and a locknut on the stud, and then tighten the nut to pull the stud up flush with the flange. Proceed by turning the lug nut one more time in a lestener manner with the purpose of seating the stud in the flange. Lastly, the brake drum/ disc is replaced, the wheel and lug nuts are replaced and the vehicle lowered then the lug nuts are tightened.
