Q: How to remove and install the front Sway Bar Bushing and Sway Bar Kit on 1997 through 2001 Toyota Avalon?
A: Lug nuts at the front wheel should be loosened and the front of the car placed upon jackstands. Then, remove front wheel. Remove left and right side fender apron seals. Disconnect tie-rod ends from steering knuckles both sides. Disconnect bar links from the sway bar. Remove both retainers of sway bar bushings from engine cradles. Take out the exhaust pipe in front of the car. Unfasten mounting bolts for steering gear using suitable tools. Raise up steering gear assembly and remove sway bar by working it back through left wheel housing. While sway bar is off vehicle, slide off retainer bushings and inspect them. Using a stiff wire brush, clean bushing area of sway bar to be installed on vehicle chassis. Lubricate inside and outside of new bushings with corn oil. Installing back is vice versa.
