Before testing the Fuel Level Sensor, it is important to fill the tank completely with fuel. To begin the testing process, raise the vehicle and secure it with jack stands. Disconnect the electrical connector of the Fuel Level Sensor located at the front of the fuel tank and use an ohmmeter to check the resistance by placing the probes on the light green/red wire and the green/yellow wire of the connector. The resistance should be around 12.0 ohms when the tank is full and about 115 to 122 ohms when the tank is nearly empty. If the readings are incorrect, the sending unit should be replaced. To replace the sending unit, remove the rear seat cushion and the Fuel Level Sensor cover bolts from the fuel tank. Then, remove the screws that hold the cover to the sending unit and carefully remove the sending unit from the opening without damaging the fuel level float. Finally, separate the sending unit from the assembly by removing the screw from the side of the sending unit bracket, and install the new sending unit by reversing the removal process.
