    Q:
How to remove and install Oil Pan in V8 engine on 2003 through 2009 Toyota 4Runner? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the engine, begin with such steps as, pulling out the oil and the oil filter from the engine. Subsequently, remove the actual engine from the car. Continue to the elimination of timing belt, number 1 and number 2 idler pulleys, crankshaft pulley, and crank pulsed sensor if the oil pump is not to be removed. Next, remove the oil dipstick tube, the oil filter, the oil cooler and the oil filter bracket assembly from the engine. Take out the lower steel oil pan bolts and nuts and un-bolt the part and if is fully bonded to the engine remove it gently without causing harm to the mating surface. Later, unbolt and take off the baffle plate which is in the lower part of the engine, and the upper oil pan in a similar fashion with the bolts and nuts being removed. Last of all, unscrew the oil pump strainer. To install, remove all the old sealants, using a scraper, from the block, the lower and upper oil pans; wash the contact surfaces with the brake system cleaner. Clean the through bolts wholes in the engine block and the number 1 oil pan, and inspect the flange of the lower oil pan; it may be dented: use a hammer to level them. Check the oil pump pick-up/strainer for crack or blockages; if removed-clean it and replace the gasket, tighten the pick-up/stainer attaching bolts/nuts to the recommended torque. On the flange of the upper oil pan, run a 3/16-inch wide bead of RTV sealant, place the flange onto the engine block, place the bolts in the flange and tighten start on centre then continue and end on outside in three or four steps respectively. Fit the baffle plate next and also apply some 3/16-inch wide RTV sealant on the flange of lower oil pan and place the upper oil pan flange over the lower one and fasten the bolts of the upper flange as tight as possible in three or four times in center bolt fashion. The rest of the installation process is a reversal of the removal process, to make sure that fresh oil is added, and new oil filter and the cooling system is refilled. Lastly, start the engine and ensure that there is good oil pressure and there are no signs of the oil leaking out.

    Q:
What are the steps to remove the oil pan for the 2009 Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
    1. Remove the bolts and nuts that secure oil pan No. 2 (the smaller stamped steel pan) to the larger cast aluminum oil pan. 2. If oil pan No. 2 is stuck due to RTV sealant, tap it loose with a rubber-tipped mallet or carefully cut the sealant with a putty knife and hammer, ensuring not to damage the mating surfaces. 3. Remove the two oil pump pickup tube/strainer mounting nuts and the pickup/strainer assembly. 4. Remove the four bolts that attach the flywheel housing cover and then remove the cover. 5. Remove the 17 bolts and 2 nuts that secure the oil pan to the engine block, along with the 4 stud bolts. 6. Carefully pry the oil pan loose from the engine block, only prying in the small cutout areas along the side of the pan.
