Toyota 19300-50011 Sensor Assy, Cam Position

On V6 models, there are two CMP sensors located on the inside walls of the cylinder heads, adjacent to the timing rotor installed on the front of each Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (WT-i) controller, while on V8 models, the CMP sensor is positioned on the front of the left cylinder head, next to the intake camshaft timing belt sprocket. Begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal, then remove the drivebelt. Next, disconnect the electrical connector for the CMP sensor. For V8 models, remove the left No. 3 timing belt cover, ensuring to disengage the grommet for the CMP sensor electrical lead from its hole, slide the lead out the slot in the grommet, and pull the lead through the hole in the cover. After that, remove the CMP sensor retaining bolt and stud. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring that the CMP sensor retaining bolt and stud are tightened securely.

The CMP sensors are located on the inside walls of the cylinder heads, adjacent to the timing rotor on the front of each VVT-i controller.
