On V6 and 2UZ-FE V8 engines, the CKP sensor should be disconnected by disconnecting the electrical connector.

On 2010 and earlier V6 models, there are two CMP sensors located on the inside walls of the cylinder heads, adjacent to the timing rotor on the front of each VVT-i controller. These sensors are referred to as VVT sensors by Toyota. For 2011 and later models, there are four CMP sensors identical to those used on the 1UR-FE, 3UR-FE, and 3UR-FBE VB engines. On 2UZ-FE engines, the CMP sensor is located on the front of the left cylinder head, next to the intake camshaft timing belt sprocket. To remove it, the drivebelt and left No. 3 timing belt cover must be taken off, followed by disconnecting the CMP sensor electrical connector and removing the retaining bolt and stud. The installation process is the reverse of removal. For 1GR-FE V6 (2010 and later), 1UR-FE, 3UR-FE, and 3UR-FBE V8 engines, the CMP sensor is also located on the front of the left cylinder head, adjacent to the intake camshaft timing belt sprocket. To remove it, the engine cover must be removed, followed by disconnecting the CMP sensor electrical connector and removing the retaining bolt and sensor from the driver's side valve cover. The installation process is the reverse of removal.
