Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the steering column covers. Unplug the ignition switch wiring harness connectors, then remove the switch retaining screws and pull the switch from the lock cylinder housing, with installation being the reverse of removal. For models equipped with the engine immobilizer system, gently dry off the plastic shroud around the key lock cylinder and disconnect the electrical connector, lifting the shroud edge from the locating tab just enough to slip it off, as it houses the amplifier for the special transponder keys. Pry lightly to remove the illumination ring and then take out the unlock arming switch. Insert the key and turn it to the ACC position. Use a small screwdriver or punch to depress the lock cylinder retaining pin, then withdraw the key cylinder. To install the lock cylinder, depress the retaining pin and guide it into the housing until the retaining pin extends back into the locating hole, with the remainder of installation being the reverse of removal.
