- Q: How to remove and replace the alternator brush on Toyota Supra?A:Before you can pull the Alternator from the 1979 through 1983 models, take time to mark the alternator case so that you can be sure that you will be reassembling it in the right manner. Third, it is necessary to unbolt three through-bolts, and then sledge the rectifier end frame and stator away from the drive-end frame and the rotor using a screwdriver to detach the stator. Subsequently, it is necessary to pull out all the four nuts and the condenser together with both terminal insulators from the rectifier end frame without losing the insulator of the rectifier holder stud as well as the rubber cushion for the brush holder. Some of the necessary steps that have to be perform include desoldering of leads and removal of old brushes and springs from the respective brush holder should be done carefully avoiding application of excessive heat. Replace the new brushes and springs one at a time and make sure that the newly installed brush is of the required standard exposed length and then solder the leads.
