Remove the power steering fluid from the reservoir. If working on a VB model, remove the air filter housing. Remove the drivebelt. Disconnect the two vacuum hoses, if equipped, or the electrical connector at the power steering fluid pressure sensor. Position a drain pan under the power steering pump, then disconnect the pressure and feed hoses from the backside of the pump, plugging the hoses to prevent contaminants from entering and discarding the sealing washer(s). Remove the pump mounting fasteners and lift the pump from the engine compartment, taking care not to spill fluid on the painted surfaces. Installation is the reverse of removal, using new sealing washers on both sides of the pressure line fitting and tightening the pressure line banjo bolt and the pump mounting fasteners to the specified torque values. Fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended fluid and bleed the system.
